Audience Member Super low budget that l think some college crew set up for drama and history class. Sybil is sort of a folk hero in lower NY, but not the city area or Long Island and western CT (the area is a border between 2 states). The girl had more gonads at 16 than most males today. The British came by water from NYC and landed at Fairfield CT and burned that town. They marched to Danbury, CT to burn the Continental Army Stores kept there for the Continental troops at Peekskill and West Point NY on the Hudson River. A rider from Danbury CT rides and goes to Col. Ludington home 20 miles away in Fredrickburgh, NY now Ludingtonville section of Paterson, NY in Putnum County (named for Gen. Israel Putnam hero of the French and Indian War and the Revolution). He and his horse are exhausted. Col. Ludington had to muster the militia and he asked his just turned 16 year old (two weeks past her B-day) daughter Sybil to ride to the towns and homes bang the alarms to alert the men the "British burned Danbury; muster the militia at Col. Ludington home." She rode 40 miles in a thunderstorm and the 400 strong Westchester County NY militia turned out and met 5th Connecticut & CT militias under Generals Wooster and Arnold (before he turned) in Ridgefield, CT on Route 116 & 33. The only battle in CT occurred and we sent the British scuttling fast to Norwalk, CT to get on their boats and back to NYC. They were going to burn everything on a march back to NYC but Sybil's ride saved the area. She rode farther than Revere and he got stopped.
