M.B O If you actually are interested, watch one of those youtube videos, (if they're are any on this), labeled I watched 'Syrup' so you don't have to so you don't have to waste your hours on this! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/23 Full Review Shirley C ...to the core. I'm surprised I could even give this syrupy movie a half star. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/20/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a budget film & it shows but for what it was it was entertaining enough. The concept is good. Could've been executed better but its held together well enough by the two main actors. To tell the story. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Amber is hot, smoking hot, while 10 years ago when this was filmed, no so much now. But she's not a good actress unless she's playing a sl*t, wh*re, manipulative b*tch, whatever, something she doesn't have to act at, but where she is herself, then she's a golden globe. I still loved looking at her during this horrible movie...but she's very beautiful on the outside, that is for damn sure, but she's as dark as the depths of hell in her soul.... The movie has a good idea, but I think they overpaid for Amber and couldn't afford to put this movie totally together or something like that...its painful to watch its' that bad... She doesn't even take any clothes off at all, so this is really a 1 star, and to think she could have made this a 5 star with just a few moments of no clothes...that is all this would have taken.... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't really think Amber heard is that good, but in this everything else is so bad she looks decent. Never gonna carry a movie, especially one this bad. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review ben n This movie had promise - it didn't live up to most of it in the end, but the witticisms and cleverness from the book is there for the first 2 acts. It is visually appealing but vapid, and it's supposed to be. The book is better. I just wish it had a worthwhile ending. Also 6 is inexplicable weak in the end, but then I think she is not really a person but a metaphor anyway. She really is just he salesmanship and nothing else is there. Just when I am about to give up on this movie, I had this thought - it is up to Scat (us) to chose that path of enticing empty promises, or not. Geoff Pevere Globe and Mail It's tempting to say that Aram Rappaport's Syrup sticks, but it's also true. Rated: 3/4 Jul 12, 2013 Full Review Bruce DeMara Toronto Star Syrup is an unsatisfying blend of romantic comedy and scathing social satire, slamming the high-stakes games of product marketing and sales. Rated: 2/4 Jul 11, 2013 Full Review Stephanie Merry Washington Post The actors are young and beautiful, the soundtrack kicks and the camera zips around with precision. But the script never seems to match the carefully orchestrated mood. Jun 27, 2013 Full Review Sarah Gopaul Digital Journal Syrup does nothing to challenge the stereotype but instead embraces it in an outlandish farce. Mar 1, 2019 Full Review Isaac Feldberg We Got This Covered A great performance from Amber Heard can't save Syrup from its half-baked, sluggish script and obnoxious complacency. Rated: 3/10 Nov 14, 2013 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com It's a spunky film, but only in frustrating fits, with the majority of the feature overly concerned with its appearance, generating a sliver of irony to go with all the mediocrity.
