Owen Gleiberman Variety Urgent and eye-opening ... Mar 16, 2018 Full Review Justin Lowe Hollywood Reporter The steady stream of talking-head experts doesn't do much to raise the movie's pulse. Archival footage and animated sequences that augment the interview content don't move the needle appreciably, either. Mar 15, 2018 Full Review Suzi Feay Financial Times The doping allegations against Bradley Wiggins earlier this week have made Take Your Pills especially timely. Rated: 5/5 Mar 13, 2018 Full Review Gary Garrison The Playlist Take Your Pills juggles each of these threads with ease, despite at times feeling like a product of the attention deficit generation it's examining: cluttering the screen with animations and frantic cuts. Rated: B Mar 21, 2018 Full Review Kayla Cobb Decider Take Your Pills doesn't have an answer for why our society is so focused on success, or how we should handle the stresses that come along with achieving it. However, the film makes a point that's perhaps even more powerful. Mar 21, 2018 Full Review Andrea Beach Common Sense Media Refreshingly free of heavy-handed scare tactics, this documentary calmly and rationally explores rising amphetamine use by asking thought-provoking questions and promoting thorough understanding. Shelby R This movie is so incredibly biased that it shouldn't be called a documentary. More than half of the "facts" presented by the participants are either flat out incorrect while the other half are one person's opinion that makes a catch soundbite but isn't backed up with any scientific evidence, whatsoever. Take Your Pills is not only a complete waste of an hour and a half, but you will almost certainly become dumber from watching it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/01/23 Full Review Dunbar D This movie is a propaganda film. I take Adderall, It is prescribed. This movie doesn't make any distinctions between people who take the drug to deal with a deficit as prescribed, and those that abuse it or don't need it. ADHD meds are the most studied and scrutinized drugs on the market. The doc over-exaggerates the problem and stigmatizes the drug which discourages people who may need it from trying it responsibly. Adderall changed my life, and this film is cheap clickbait mess pretending to be a documentary. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I feel like they missed the mark. They focused more on people recreationally taking it which perpetuates the cycle of judgment for people who do. If you don't have a medical need, don't take the medication. As long as your medicine is correct and the dose is correct you don't get high, you slow down so you can function. It made it even more stigmatized that these drugs a like "meth" and not good. They had a real chance and missed by a mile. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review pat s This is the exact type of stigmatising propaganda they used to outlaw many medicinal substances like marijuana and psilocybin and to sigmatise mental disorders that benefit from them. By spotlighting a few side effects and a few people with addiction problems they make it look like we, the vast majority who has a very real need for these medicines, are just thrill seekers who deserve to be stigmatised. Terrible. I'm a neurodiverhent doctor myself and this film's propaganda was so successful even my family started believing it over me. This documentary should be on the misleading medical news pile along with antivaccination and antimasking campaigns. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This “documentary” is a joke. Typically a documentary looks at both sides but not this turd. Don’t waste your time watching this garbage Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/27/21 Full Review Audience Member Not an accurate representation of ADHD at all. This is a very one-sided documentary with an agenda, and it just furthers the gap between people with ADHD and neurotypical people, fostering misunderstanding and misinformation.
