Rahul Desai The Hollywood Reporter It’s 160 minutes long, vain and impossibly dull. Jul 22, 2025 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Dutt takes on the near-impossible job of portraying a disability which is perhaps the hardest of all for a ‘normal’ person because of its complex nature. And does well enough, within the constraints of a mainstream film, and the plot’s implausible leaps. Rated: 2.5/5 Jul 18, 2025 Full Review Sreeju Sudhakaran LatestLY.com Tanvi The Great is a well-intentioned film that aims to uplift and inspire - but it's weighed down by a heavy hand, jarring tonal shifts, and filmmaking that never quite rises to the promise of its premise. Rated: 2/5 Jul 19, 2025 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV The film makes the right noises but its strokes, despite being consistently well-directed, are delivered without ambiguity and nuance. Its emotive tugs and pulls are both laborious and inconsistent. Rated: 2/5 Jul 18, 2025 Full Review Rachit Gupta The Times of India In the end, Tanvi The Great turns out to be a film with good intentions but not so great cinematic execution. But sometimes, one just has to look past the obvious flaws and shortcomings and appreciate the intent more than the action. Rated: 3/5 Jul 18, 2025 Full Review Ganesh Aaglave Firstpost While [the film is] not flawless and does look sometimes stretched and far-fetched, it beautifully combines music with storytelling, creating beautiful moments in the movie that leave you teary-eyed as well as pumped with a huge smile. Yash B "Tanvi: The Great" has a pure and real heart, which makes it a hard movie not to like. The movie has a simple story that kicks in about an hour in, and I found myself rooting for the lead character throughout. The movie is overlong, like many Indian movies, and that does impact the pacing at times. However, the movie is fairly engaging with its musical numbers and storyline despite overstaying a bit. The acting is pretty good too, though the messages can feel a bit heavy-handed at times, where they could have benefited from occasional subtlety. I also think there are a few sequences in this movie where the special effects were just really bad, and it took me out of the experience. Since the movie is trying to be about real topics, this minor gripe felt more major when reflecting on it. Overall, it is a sweet movie that is very well-intentioned and often very entertaining as well, and it is among the better Indian movies to come out lately. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review Anooj P. The story a bit too long and some of the scenes felt rushed by editing. Overall I enjoyed it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/20/25 Full Review Audience Member Anupam Kher's Tanvi The Great doesn't completely match up to its name nevertheless for fans of optimistic stories with a message the film will definitely work. The performances led by Shubhangi Dutt and Anupam Kher is rock solid. The dynamics between the grandfather and granddaughter and how Anupam Kher's comes to terms with her autism gives the movie its best moments.
