A must-see film for movie lovers, this Martin Scorsese masterpiece is as hard-hitting as it is compelling, with Robert De Niro at his best.

Desmond Ryan Philadelphia Inquirer It works its strange alchemy with riveting force… With this extraordinary film, Scorsese confirms his standing among our finest young directors. It is, among other things, a testament to the versatility that last produced Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. Oct 6, 2023 Full Review Kevin Kelly Boston Globe Taxi Driver is so volatile it nearly explodes from the screen. Under Martin Scorsese's brilliant direction, it works a dramatic tension that is inescapable, carefully, systematically straitjacketing its audience in the problems of its central character. Oct 6, 2023 Full Review Gene Siskel Chicago Tribune Remove the cataclysmic ending from Taxi Driver and it would be one smashingly good motion picture. As it stands, the film is beautiful to look at, exciting to listen to, but much too much to stomach. Rated: 3/4 Oct 6, 2023 Full Review Wael Khairy The Cinephile Fix The viewer has no choice, we are forced to breathe the air, gaze through the pupils, and experience the city by slipping into the shoes of a twisted protagonist, the shoe laces tightly tied by none other than a master of his craft, Scorsese. Apr 21, 2025 Full Review Bianca Garner Filmotomy Bickle was a warning to all of us, on what can occur if we push people to the edges of society. Oct 10, 2024 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy One of the most disturbing -- and controversial -- studies of loneliness ever placed on screen. Allen T A great character study/story. A mental health story. A cautionary tale. A good one if you like DeNiro. Bernard Herrnann's final score sadly- full of emotion. So glad it was back on the big screen! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/12/25 Full Review Gus K. This film was a bit of a slog to get through. Well acted and shot, just didn’t connect with the plot or the characters. The ending doesn’t make a ton of sense. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/29/25 Full Review Michari N. Despite having a lot of controversy, Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver brings a lot to the gangster genre. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/25/25 Full Review Sebastian D Its unrelenting intensity might overwhelm some, but for me, it’s perfection. Scorsese’s masterful direction, Paul Schrader’s incisive script, and the cast’s raw power make every frame electric. Taxi Driver is a profound, visceral character study and a searing societal critique, a must-see that lingers long after the credits roll. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/21/25 Full Review Marcus W The 'classic movie' I had seen the posters of and had heard how it was so classic. beautifully shot New York, artsy vibes. Gritty? Soft and indulgent like a piece by art school students (sorry) Just been in grittier situations, Harvey Keitel just didn't cut it as a pimp. Part Woody Allen. Just a bit disjointed in the end. Glad I've seen it so I can say I've seen the great classic movie. Slow paced but wasn't necessarily bored until right at the 'shocking' climax. Not brave enough to have a tragic ending. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/14/25 Full Review Damon C I came in to this very open minded and an hour in I couldn’t take it anymore. Painfully boring with barely any plot. I read breakdowns of this movie afterwards to see if there was something I was missing, but it still doesn’t justify this snoozefest. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/13/25 Full Review Read all reviews
