Marc Bernardin Entertainment Weekly What was once an evocative, battle-hardened haiku has become a punch-drunk, derivative Saturday-morning cartoon. Rated: C Apr 9, 2019 Full Review TV Guide Staff TV Guide TEKKEN: THE MOTION PICTURE suffers in comparison to other anime versions of video games, thanks in part to its truncated story line and weakly sketched main characters. Rated: 2/5 Apr 9, 2019 Full Review Brian Camp Common Sense Media Overwrought characters spend as much time debating as they do fighting in this relatively short, fast-paced and attractively designed anime. Audience Member A not so pretty animation based on Tekken. Too much subplots, which makes the movie a bit of a drag. It's not bad, but nothing spectacular. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Good but no way near as good as arête fighter Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member It is a really curious, but nevertheless a bad film. A really well-developed story about tragedy and familiar revenge (which was actually the game itself) turns into a strange fusion between both the first and the second videogames that leads into a boring, full of topics film. It does not even have Kazuya throwing his father off a cliff (which is an essential part of the end of the first and beginning of the second game), whereas the classical references taken from The Godfather and that Hamlet-style feeling with Kazuya's own demons and struggles for revenge from the original videogames are badly portraited. It was ridiculous at times and excessively gory. I wouldn't like it if it wasnt for my love of the game.
