Johanna Schneller Globe and Mail Mainly, the film suffers because Storm is not at all introspective. It's all access and no insight. Rated: 2/4 Jun 17, 2016 Full Review Linda Barnard Toronto Star Often poignant and occasionally heartbreaking, Storm (who still looks good and can work a shimmy despite breaking a hip a while back), sticks her chin out and quotes Muhammad Ali: "I'm still the greatest." Rated: 3/4 Jun 16, 2016 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Tempest Storm is a portrait of a taboo-breaker, a woman who has always walked her own path. Her journey is entertaining but her message is profound. Rated: 4/5 Jun 25, 2024 Full Review Matt Bobkin National Post While these elements on paper seem to explore the precarious balance between career and commitment, they don't thematically coalesce until the end of the film - long after it should have been played for more effect. Rated: 1.5/4 Jun 16, 2016 Full Review Norman Wilner NOW Toronto [Director Nimisha Mukerji nudges] aside her subject's brassy burlesque persona to reveal a woman working to reconcile the various versions of herself that she's worn and discarded over the years. Rated: 4/5 Jun 15, 2016 Full Review Ken Eisner Georgia Straight There's some shorthand cultural context here, with archival footage and Storm's own scrapbooks, but occasional claims about the dancer's place in the exotic firmament are not supported by much evidence. Audience Member The film was a reminder that fame comes with a price, that aging is never easy, and forgiveness is important. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Great documentary with a look into burlesque legend Tempest Storm's life. The highs and lows she experienced and the choices she made.
