David Parkinson Radio Times It's all very slick, but this 11-minute promo is also smugly superficial and not only disrespects the legacies of those whose films have been shown there, but also the viewer's intelligence. Rated: 1/5 Nov 17, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Cameron H This short 10 minute documentary celebrates the legacy of the famous Egyptian theatre in Hollywood as it undergoes restoration. Famous filmmakers like Rian Johnson and Guillermo del Toro discuss the importance of the movie theater experience. It’s a shame this film was so short. I would have enjoyed a feature length film that goes into greater detail about the Egyptian Theatre and its history. This short film was a very quick, surface level promotional piece. If you love movies and film history, I would say this is still a film worth watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/09/25 Full Review David F This is a short documentary about Grauman's Egyptian Theatre, site of the first big premiere of a film and a historic Hollywood movie theatre that has recently been restored to its former glory. Filmmakers offer quotes extolling the movie-going experience (they also interviewed a ticket taker who worked at the theatre-he has some interesting stuff to say!) while we get a quick tour of the theatre and see some historic photos and film of the role it has played in the promotion and distribution of film. It's also padded out with a lot of great old movie scenes. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
