See more 10/31/2015 As we grew together with Dante, it is notable that his police action-based movie has definitely grown darker and That Demon Within is one to-date one of Dante's darkest movie. Unlike previous success, Dante failed to bring the done-till-death psychological action thriller to the next level. To add salt to wound, the plot was a mess with loose and choppy edits and at some point unbearable scripts. While Dante and Nick collaborates well, and with Daniel and Liu Kai Chi following behind closely, the rest seems to be left chasing far behind. A huge disappointment as there are no newness in it at all - Dante with his action thriller scenes and with the rest of the cast plays this kind of same roles many times before. Somewhat playing out like a Hong Kong Fight Club, That Demon Within pits a man against himself, struggling to come to terms with his past. Overall, the production value is nice, but the action poorly choreographed and the flashbacks brutally redundant. This is just another film that could have been something great, but lacked subtlety.
