Vivian Kenway (Rex Harrison) is known as a cad, a playboy and a scoundrel. Seducing his best friend's wife (Jean Kent) and his father's secretary (Margaret Johnston) before ultimately marrying for money may be considered reprehensible and foolish. But when his questionable behavior gets him expelled from Oxford University and results in his serving England in the British Army during World War II, Kenway's actions and decisions may lead him to redemption.

Audience Member One of Rex Harrison's debut films during the 1940s, a much younger Rex plays a character who hustles, gambles, and is ill-kind to his long-time love-interest and family. He travels across countries and finally ends up in Germany without money and cut-off by his family. Hitler's power has risen and is threatening the lives of many people of Jewish and Non-Jewish decent. There, Rex meets a woman who is I think half-German and Jewish decent. She cons him into marrying her for money and bring her to Britain; but, in reality, she hasn't got a red cent either. Rex's wife attempts suicide instead of waiting for a legal divorce. He eventually returns to his home in Britain and runs out on his long-time girlfriend once again. Alright film.
