The story of the Brown siblings is powerful enough as one of unusual musical genius and sympatico. This film exposes the circumstances that make their collective gift that much more compelling and powerful. THE 5 BROWNS: DIGGING THROUGH THE DARKNESS is a story about the power of sibling love, determination in the face of unspeakable trial and the strengthening bond of music. While the subject matter could have easily been sensationalized, the story is deftly guided by director Ben Niles in an engrossing yet balanced build to the reveal, as well as its after-effect on the siblings within the family unit and as performers.

Great documentary. Tough story to reveal with some positivity. My expectation were that it would be dark and depressing; however, I was graciously surprised with the message of hope and liberation. A sad but uplifting story of strong, inspiring heroins.

The information is superb and the director does a great job gathering the information. Highly recommended! Sad that these abuses have gone on for so long and continue to go on in this country. Good to be informed to help push legislation to protect children who need the support.
