Besides some unnecessary scenes towards the end of the film, the film offers a narrative that differs from other murder-trial films leaving the courtroom melodrama as background noise rather than the central part of the plot.

An outstanding courtroom thriller, portraying all aspects of a legal battle, from the devastating psychological consequenses on the accused and her whole family, to her deceptive and suspicious behavior throughout legal procedures and relationships.

Acusada es una cinta que pretende ser pero no es. Pretende ser profunda en su reflexion sobre las diferencias generacionales al momento de decidir lo que es "bueno" o malo. Pretende tambien mostrar el lado oscuro de la sociedad avida de morbo por la nota roja y capaz de juzgar y destruir sin pensarlo. Hablando de pretender, igual intenta llevar un juicio que "40 millones de personas siguen por la television", generando intrigas en la mente del espectador. Pero todo lo anterior, con un guion flojo, una protagonista forzada en las expresiones (no siempre atinadas) y sin mucho giro que ofrecer, se queda en el intento. Sin embargo, si de algo no se le puede acusar a la Acusada es de ser aburrida; de hecho, la cinta mantiene un buen ritmo de principio a fin y permite de una u otra manera conectar sobretodo con un padre desesperado por demostrar la inocencia de su hija de cara a la sociedad llena de prejuicios.
Acusada bien podria haber profundizado en las heridas y llevado a un clima de autentico ´suspense´, quiza de no haber querido abarcar mucho y apretar poco. Que alguien me explique: ¿que diablos tuvo que hacer Gael Garcia ahi?

I watched this movie during TIFF and found it to be INCREDIBLE! The actors Lali Esposito and Leonardo Sbaraglia are magic on the screen, and the direction was top notch.
