Annette W Ash Lad is a wonderful, fairytale esque film! The adventure is sprawling. The characters are vibrant, and the locations in particular are beautiful in the way they are shot. I would say, if you are looking for a classic fantasy adventure with an unexpected or underrated story, Ash Lad is perfect for this. Also, best needle drop for "In the Hall of the Mountain King" ever. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/10/25 Full Review James G It's a great family adventure that can spark interest for folktales in children. Anyone with European (especially Scandinavian) ancestry should give these Ash lad movies a chance. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/16/25 Full Review Logan D An inept farm boy joins his brothers to save the princess from a troll and rebuild his family's home. Based on the 18th century fairy tales of Akeladden, this film portrays the chimerical character as a loveable goof who is unable to live a mundane life but excels at the extraordinary. I could hear the tale being told as he walks along finding junk on the trail but tells his skeptical brothers, "Might come in handy!" It's not a great film but fans of fantasy will find it serviceable as a morsel until we get the next LotR. I viewed the dubbed version and found it acceptable. The CGI is slightly below average but the scenery is such a star in the film I could give the former a pass. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review B_Sian Nadao S the graphics are too bad to enjoy, many stiff scenes and stingy production make the movie not optimal. the storyline is predictable from the beginning, the plot is okay, not bad but far from good. the soundtrack is not creative, one of the soundtracks is what we usually hear in yt videos. the acting is ordinary apart from the father. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Lucas B Incredible movie for anyone interested in Norwegian folklore. Really beautiful cinematography. The story and characters are simple and easy to follow. The English dub is pretty good. If you are at all interested in fairy tales you definitely have to check this one out. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/24 Full Review Audience Member I love this movie! It has a great story and the actors are amazing. Love the norwegian language too. Very entertaining and funny movie!
