The Beguiled plays out exactly as one might expect and never really stretches beyond its contained premise. That being said, Coppola makes full use of the scenario in terms of feminist commentary and critique, and the film looks genuinely stunning.

I would have enjoyed this more if I could have seen more of it, but the scenes at night are poorly lit and I found that irritating. What I could see I did enjoy. Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst are unsurprisingly amazing in this Civil War period piece about a wounded Yankee soldier being brought to heal at a woman’s school in the South only for his presence to turn the women against each other vying for his affection and attention.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é ruim, esse filme é quase igual a Maria antonieta só que esse filme é mais chato e mais ruim, o filme não traz nada de interessante, nem a porra do nome do filme é legal, vai toma no cu, essa Sofia coppola não faz um filme foda vai se fude.

Unfortunately this was a random pick on a random night. I can't get back the last hour and a half watching a bunch of teenage girls swoon over a crippled man. The story was dry and left a lot to be desired. The actors should fire there managers for even considering this script. Sigh....

It seemed a little boring in the surface, but it managed to get me ---just a little--- invested in it. More than most of Sofia's films, with the exception of her masterpiece (...Translation)

The solid acting from the excellent cast assembled for this film is unable to save it from itself. There is a clear line of ridiculousness that is crossed, despite the naivete of both the characters and the time period. There are moments where you can't help but think to yourself 'Really? She's obviously smart, but she's so desperate for love that she's falling for this nonsense?'.
