Sheri Linden The Hollywood Reporter The stark and unsettling beauty of West Texas, with its cliffs and canyons and ghost towns, isn't mere backdrop to this well-observed drama; it infuses the movie on a molecular level. Jun 25, 2024 Full Review Joe Friar Fort Worth Report In Brett Wagner’s funny and touching film, things go south as two families vacation together in scenic Texas. Featuring solid performances, breathtaking cinematography, and weighty themes. Rated: 3/4 Jun 8, 2024 Full Review Laura Clifford Reeling Reviews Considering that many of its themes are quite serious, Wagner also throws in some laugh-out-loud moments while cinematographer Paul Atkins ("Voyage of Time") evokes mysterious implications from the astounding natural landscape. Rated: B+ May 15, 2024 Full Review Bradley Gibson Film Threat With The Big Bend, Wagner has created strong characters in a compelling setting with that special Texas magic. Rated: 8/10 May 2, 2024 Full Review Stephen Saito Moveable Fest While those onscreen may not like the curveballs life throws their way, it keeps things interesting in “The Big Bend.” Apr 24, 2024 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Refreshingly unpredictable, atmospheric and mildly engaging, but unfocused, overstuffed and undercooked. Clyde M This is great film. Scripted with mysteries , red herrings, and surprises my attention was riveted to the screen. I doubt I will see anything this well made for the balance of 2024. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/10/24 Full Review Offgrid R Definitely a must see movie. Started out a little slow which depicted the way it is in Terlingua, Texas. It captures the true essence of Big Bend region lifestyle. It was right on point. Will see it again! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/25 Full Review Tom S Great acting, good story, great cinematography! Saw this at a real movie theater, so the Texas landscape was truly amazing. The movie itself is a great flick in the "independent movie" mode of the late '90s, early '00s: a good story with good acting from lesser known (or unknown) actors with just enough tension and humor. And while it is not a mystery, it is good that the movie is not predictable and the audience does not know what happens next. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Ashley L This movie was fantastic. The acting was great, including the amazing kids, the story was interesting and surprising, and the scenery was breathtaking. I highly recommend seeing it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/09/24 Full Review Andre G Two thumbs up. Even the bad guys turn out to be a kind guys with principle and what about that young girl. Great acting all over. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/02/24 Full Review Dawn R Great scenery and a pleasant story. Very original. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/08/24 Full Review Read all reviews
