Critics Consensus

The Binge starts out with the promise of a fun time, but gets sloppy on bottom-shelf humor and stumbles face down into the gutter.

No amount of booze could make this Hulu teen comedy seem funny. Go to Full Review

[A] raucous, happily irresponsible party that should help locked-in, bottled-up Americans release some steam. Go to Full Review

A tedious and only occasionally amusing comedic riff on The Purge franchise. Go to Full Review

Despite a few good performances and a surprisingly wild performance from Vince Vaughn, The Binge might just be the worst film 2020 has to offer with zero laughs and a lot of problematic, outdated material. Go to Full Review

The Binge should serve as a cautionary tale for how not to make a movie, much less a comedy. Even a silly story with little at stake must take some kind of form or it to work. Go to Full Review

Ultimately, there's plenty to enjoy in The Binge, thanks to likeable characters, some inventively witty dialogue...just a shame that the central premise has so little impact on the plot. Go to Full Review

Beth G @Beefchalupa 4d I have watched this movies probably over 50 times, there's romance and comedy, shenanigans and the craziest characters you've ever seen. You will never expect whats coming next in this insane parody of a classic horror series. I can never get enough and I will likely continue watching with all my friends for years to come. My biggest problem with this movie is there are far too many quotable lines and I have to hold my tongue from quoting the whole movie everytime I watch it. See more Jan 2 It was one of the funniest movies that's come out in years. Which isn't saying much but still. Not every movie needs to be some deep, introspective bs. Sometimes you just wanna watch a funny movie, with great characters, and a ridiculous concept. That's what this movie is. It's entertainment, stop taking everything so seriously. See more Kyle M 09/15/2024 “The Purge” is sickeningly original, unlike its parodical equivalence, with similar sickness though – not to mention more tolerable, of pathetic consumption underlying shallow characterization pretty much thirsting through the “Beerfest” routine rather than acknowledging how similar endeavors fare better with occasionally utter enjoyability. Could it be that’s the point behind the so-called creativity with frivolity as its definitive commentary? At a passerby distance, it still stirs up some laughs by timing adjacent to Vince Vaughn’s comedic energy. (B-) See more James F 03/28/2024 It's a witty comedy that has its funny moments but story wise it's a huge letdown. Started out incredible. Interesting ‘Purge' like inspired content that hadn't been done before in comedy. But sometime around the Mushroom Trip it becomes very dull. If you are okay with GOOD/BAD comedies this is probably for you. See more Michael C @Crowley 03/26/2024 Audience score says it all. It's a fun movie with a lot of memorable moments. One in particular I'll quote for the remainder of my days. It's a coming of age comedy. While clearly not as good, I'd put it in the vein of super bad and youth in revolt. Not sure why critics expected this movie to rival avengers endgame for some reason. They just gotta suck it down pipe, and they'll be happy for it. See more Eddie M 07/16/2023 Genuinely cringed morr at the stupidity that laughed at anything. Nothing really makes any sense to the degree it's not entertaining anymore. See more Read all reviews
