kevin w Similar insofar as one important element to Destry Rides Again, this story concerns an ex-soldier who vows to never use his guns again, telegraphing where the story will go next. Then it throws in the western standard of poor homesteaders up against some rich tyrannical rancher (Lon Chaney, strangely playing all of his scenes from a chair), and includes a little about a crusading newspaperman daring to tell the truth about the explosion in the number of murders of late for spice. The piece is oddly written, unwieldy dialogue abounds, but contains interesting bits like the rancher's daughter (Myrna Dell, good here and playing for keeps) having a bit of a sadistic side and leading the hired guns to burn the poor homesteaders out. Not one to look for, but rather an interesting curio. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member OIrdinary oater with decent cast. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review dave j Tuesday, October 30, 2012 (1951) The Bushwhackers WESTERN It is the end of the civil war, and confederate soldier Jefferson Waring (John Ireland ) vowed never to lift another gun ever again, only then as soon as he resides to another town, he comes across a land baron whose hiring outlaws against farm owners to build a railway across. The film feels very rushed making it very forgettable and such little action despite some of the drama moments being well done. 2 out of 4 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
