Otis Ferguson The New Republic Carried out with an ease of direction that is as simple and right as the principle of cantilever, so that everything matches with the dominant mood of good temper, gentle mockery, droll high spirits and edge. May 23, 2024 Full Review Meyer Levin (Patterson Murphy) Esquire Magazine Another Grand Hotel on a boat, but with the humor dependent upon some almost subtle character touches rather than straight gags. Walter Connelly projects the title with fine rancour. Audience Member Mediocre programmer was the end of the line for John Gilbert, the great silent matinee idol reduced to a supporting role. His part is minor and he doesn't look bad for a 50 year old man, the problem is that he was only 35 when this was filmed. Beside his involvement this is a minor picture with a muddled script that Milestone can't make come alive. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A simple film about a group of interesting individuals on cross Atlantic cruise & all their going on's. Most interestingly this was Silent Star John Gilbert's last film by this stage his career was very downhill & was an alcoholic & that was clear in the role. The story itself was a little lifeless but the all the interesting personalities made the film much better. It's a interesting film that was made in the early 1930's.
