Vera A This movie is far better then the critic reviewed it! The main plot focuses on cyber attacks vs Wallstreet, vs our Feds trying to control a buck! Well worth the watch Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review victor o I saw this for AnnaSophia Robb and with a story billed with an impressive cast I was expecting a good film. I was wrong. Released in a way that is supposed to draw upon the real-life economic disasters from the Great Depression of the 1930s to the Great Recession of the 2000s. A corporate consultant is called up with intelligence that a possible attempt against the US and eventually the world's economy would collapse. But the consultant gets wary of the significance of this, particularly with his troubles with the government. Along with personal problems in his life he does what he can as he ends up discovering something far worse than anything else he could have imagined. I expected better with a great cast, but this movie was all hat and no cattle, basically a hate letter to corporations for seeking profit. Blaming them for past mistakes isn't bad enough that they got to make them culpable in a crime that hasn't happened. I even found it stupid that they depicted a certain individual to become President of the United States, which thankfully never happened. Yes, I voted for the other one, the one who won. A nauseating story that tries to pass itself like it was the Bourne Identity of economic terrorism. Dumb basically. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Story too niche, details maybe too fine... I never had a good feel for what was going on. It's like 'Hackers' goes to 'Wall Street.' Computer hacking and wall street trading - two things I know little about. It does, however, present a very real alternative problem as a reason for things going wrong, like conspiracy theorists have been saying all along. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member I was hoping the crash should be in the vein of something like margin call but it’s not even close. The film does have a rather intriguing cast and story but the movie is poorly made. The script is an absolute mess as is the pacing and dialogue. The camera work is nauseating constantly zooming in and out trying to be like a Bourne identity movie. On top of that it’s a pretty boring film very little to compel the viewers interest. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/02/21 Full Review Audience Member The plot and dialogue are muddled and are not salvaged by a quality cast. The story is fathomable but not well explained, and the direction and filming is to jumpy to alleviate this problem. This takes away from the tension that the film tries to create because you spend so much effort trying to keep up. John DeFore Hollywood Reporter Several respectable actors offer dicey performances here, but Rappaport's screenplay is the real villain, expecting thin references to real-world financial peril to paper over gaping holes in credibility and plain-old drama. Jan 16, 2017 Full Review Godfrey Cheshire RogerEbert.com These are all cartoon figures out of Frank Capra's most feverish populist nightmares. Rated: 1.5/4 Jan 13, 2017 Full Review Joe Morgenstern Wall Street Journal What is The Crash about? First off, it's about Mr. Rappaport's ability to get his film produced, and hats off to him for that, since it couldn't have made much sense on paper and hasn't grown in coherence on screen. Jan 12, 2017 Full Review Travis Hopson Punch Drunk Critics Let's just say that Ron Paul supporters will probably embrace The Crash and the theories it comes up with. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 14, 2017 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue In its strained effort to get your blood boiling, the script trots out trite cliches that diminish the suspense.
