The setup premise that anyone remembers or cares about a child murder 10 years later, enough to even remotely dislike or recognize the protagonist is even more far fetched than the crooked man. I am not sure what is more unbelievable the facts of a group of kids all still living in the same town, let alone remembering each other or that this monster waited till this point to keep killing people.
