      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Devil All the Time's descent into darkness can be harrowing to the point of punishment, but it's offset by strong work from a stellar cast.

Gorptholemew T 🍅 7.4/10 I really just watched it for bill and didn't know anything except the cast I originally thought this was gonna be a war movie ngl 😭. but this is quite the experience this is rough but also a bit satisfying at the end like the open possibilities for his life are just about to start and we also get sweet revenge on sick people so cool. I will say this dose take a long time to get going narratively and it's a rough hour and 35 to get to the revenge plot but minor problems for a otherwise pretty good film all the performances were great stand out for me was definitely Tom and I hope he dose some sorta spy thriller soon. Grade B+ Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review A Z Don't understand the point of the movie. Like, okay, you can make a movie about a lot of dark stuff and bad things. That in itself doesn't make a good or interesting movie though. There's nothing inherently profound about throwing in characters who are religious hypocrites anymore really. It seems like the film thinks it's making deeper points than it really is. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review Seth K Good writing, could have been an hour less in length, too long to the point it becomes stale. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review Dustin D Excellently written and acted. A movie for people who enjoy being submerged in a film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Ian W At one stage it did look like it was just going to be unrelentingly miserable. Although the death toll and general nastiness racked up, so did interest in the different story lines. Came together pretty well. Yeah, I liked this. I would have thought the critics would have liked it too. But they didn't. Critics liked "Mank" and "I'm Thinking of Ending Things". So they know sweet FA. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Scott S Overall this movie was well acted. It had what seemed to be separate stories going on during most of the movie but they came together at the end. Good movie overall, but the near non-stop bleakness almost made The Walking Dead upbeat by comparison. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) Fiendishly gripping... Rated: 4/5 Nov 22, 2020 Full Review K. Austin Collins Rolling Stone The Devil All the Time has the pretensions of a mythopoetic story that's chipping away at a community's dark underbelly. But here the misery is as belly-up and eager to be noticed as a house cat or a dead fish. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 23, 2020 Full Review Cody Corrall Chicago Reader There are instances of heart and significance scattered throughout the film, but it too often gives into its wandering nature and stops itself from ever making a lasting impression. Rated: 2/4 Oct 7, 2020 Full Review Amy Smith InSession Film I love the final product we got and with the incredible cast performances, compelling story, and the dark tone that lingered throughout the long-yet-warranted screen time, this is a film that has stuck with me since I first saw it. Mar 1, 2024 Full Review Serena Seghedoni Loud and Clear Reviews Tom Holland and an all-star cast shine in The Devil All The Time, a midwestern gothic crime drama whose well-crafted, meaningful ending makes up for a confused narrative structure. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 12, 2023 Full Review Manuel São Bento MSB Reviews The narrative’s focus on religion is bold and audacious, showing how blind faith can negatively influence people’s lives, taking them and others through the most painful paths.
