What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Devil All the Time's descent into darkness can be harrowing to the point of punishment, but it's offset by strong work from a stellar cast.

Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) Fiendishly gripping... Rated: 4/5 Nov 22, 2020 Full Review K. Austin Collins Rolling Stone The Devil All the Time has the pretensions of a mythopoetic story that's chipping away at a community's dark underbelly. But here the misery is as belly-up and eager to be noticed as a house cat or a dead fish. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 23, 2020 Full Review Cody Corrall Chicago Reader There are instances of heart and significance scattered throughout the film, but it too often gives into its wandering nature and stops itself from ever making a lasting impression. Rated: 2/4 Oct 7, 2020 Full Review Sarah Vincent Sarah G Vincent Views please do not do a flashback of a scene that I already saw moments ago. A quick flash to remind us of what happened earlier is fine, but rewatching the entire scene feels repetitive and monotonous. It is not as if the scene was that good the first time Jun 15, 2024 Full Review Amy Smith InSession Film I love the final product we got and with the incredible cast performances, compelling story, and the dark tone that lingered throughout the long-yet-warranted screen time, this is a film that has stuck with me since I first saw it. Mar 1, 2024 Full Review Serena Seghedoni Loud and Clear Reviews Tom Holland and an all-star cast shine in The Devil All The Time, a midwestern gothic crime drama whose well-crafted, meaningful ending makes up for a confused narrative structure. jacob s The movie wasn't bad at all it was just sad and cruel to be honest tom Holland nail his role honestly just too good and Robert Patterson was just as good and the story just lines up perfectly nice movie but could had been better Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/15/25 Full Review Roos S I enjoyed this movie a lot! Some lower ratings I've seen complain about the multitude of stories, as it is definitely packed with info, but I think that has been done on purpose to make the viewer realize the big picture. As a viewer you're pushed to wonder about coincidence, destiny and faith. To be honest, I would have also enjoyed this movie if it was even longer, even though it was quite long already. Some depth in character development is missing, but in a way I felt that emphasized the idea of destiny (or divine intervention based on your perspective). All in all, I'd recommend to give this movie a watch! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/14/25 Full Review Jack S Really enjoyed this movie Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/14/25 Full Review James K Great book, but a shockingly bad film. Very poorly cast. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/05/25 Full Review David K Harry Melling stole every scene he was in, there is nothing else to recommend about this movie. Bad accents, convoluted story and arc. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/25 Full Review Mons G Solid macabre thriller with strong gothic feel. Acting uniformly good (Harry Melling a standout). Keeps you watching till the end.
