Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com [Pruitt Taylor Vince] knocks it out of the park in this movie. Just about every time he walked on frame he just gave me chills. He's such an unsettling presence in this film. Rated: A- Feb 2, 2018 Full Review Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle The Devil's Candy isn't particularly bloody in and of itself. It suggests acts of terrible evil far more than it shows, and is all the more intense for it. Highly recommended. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 20, 2017 Full Review Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Sean Byrne's assured second feature is so in on the satanic joke, it sometimes feels like a comedy. In its final turn, it brings the pain; it's definitely a horror movie but a wonderfully witty one, not for gentle souls. Rated: 4/5 Apr 3, 2017 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh If haunted house movies are your things or you enjoy horror films where the perfect family can be dismantled by demonic forces, The Devil’s Candy will definitely be for you. Rated: 3/5 May 12, 2023 Full Review Jason Adams My New Plaid Pants Fundamentally disturbed Jan 10, 2022 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts It really grabbed me and pulled me in... this has to be the most disturbing, amazing film I've watched this year. Stoner J Bad ass metal infused horror flick Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/04/25 Full Review Claudio C The Devil's Candy (2015) Atmospheric and Disturbing (11,653 – 29 Apr 2025 - by Claudio Carvalho) In Texas, Ray Smilie (Pruitt Taylor Vince) is playing guitar late night at home while listening to a sinister voice. When his mother asks him to stop, he hits her with his guitar and kills her. Many years later, the down to luck painter Jesse Hellman (Ethan Embry), his wife Astrid (Shiri Appleby) and their teenage daughter Zooey (Kiara Glasco) visit the house and like it. The realtor explains that there were two deaths inside, an old woman and her husband, but they decide to buy it since they can afford. Jesse builds his large studio and while painting, he hears the same ominous voice. He paints a creepy cross upside down and the gallery owner Leonard (Tony Amendola) and his assistant Mara (Jamie Tisdale) love it. Soon he starts to paint another sinister painting with many children including Zooey while hearing the voice in trance. Out of the blue, Ray visits the family wanting to enter the house, but Jesse sends him away. He leaves his guitar and amplifier to Zooey, but Jesse and Astrid forbid her to play. When Ray breaks into the house during the night and lays on Astrid’s bed, Jesse and Astrid fight him and go to the police, when they learn that Ray spent twenty years in a mental institution. Soon the viewer learns that Rays is a serial-killer of children that he calls the devil’s candy and Astrid is in danger. “The Devil's Candy” (2015) is an atmospheric and disturbing horror movie by Seana Byrne. The story is simple but frightening with good performances by the cast. The music score with Metallica, which Jesse and Zooey are fans, is another plus. The characters are charismatic and well developed, and Ray possessed by the devil is creepy. The name of Leonard’s gallery, Belial, seems to indicate that the owner may have a pact with the devil. My vote is seven. Title (Brazil): Not Available. My Blog: https://maniacosporfilme.wordpress.com/ Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/30/25 Full Review Daniel C This movie is definitely a hidden gem all horror fans must watch. The movie is creepy and will send chills down your spine. It has a great cast and a very good storyline. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/25 Full Review Jason W Fantastic acting all around. Hooked me right in. Kiara Glasco was especially phenomenal in her role as Zoey. Pruitt Vince pulled off the creeper character so well. Soundtrack was amazing. Definitely a sleeper hit. If I had one thing to nit pick, it was Jesse's hair which looked like a wig and it was annoying. Absolutely great film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Hugo S After moving with his family to a new house, a struggling artist starts painting dark imagery as if he is being guided by an invisible malevolent force. The couple's daughter is stalked by the man who previously lived in the house, a disturbing character with a disturbing mission: use the girl as candy to "feed" Satan. "The Devil's Candy" portrays the Devil as a master who manipulates his puppets for them to carry out his deeds. An unsettling personification of evil! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Chris G Disjointed in it's storytelling but occasionally frightening, the film is ultimately pretty forgettable despite the heavy metal soundtrack Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/28/24 Full Review Read all reviews
