      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Dirt celebrates the rude debauchery that Mötley Crüe's fans enjoy -- but does so with the dispiriting lack of substance that the group's critics have long decried.

George C Silly, OTT and very 80's. Almost Waynes Worldesque. Which I imagine is exactly how they were. I felt the perfect tone for the movie was taken. Critics dont know what they are on about. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review daren l I found this a fantastic film great actors who portrayed the Crue great they show the real ups and downs of being a rock star. The only fault is if they showed more background on all the artists would have been good but overall a fantastic film I recommend for all to see even if not big fans. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/13/24 Full Review Reyna R "The dirt" It is a film that covers the beginnings of Mötley Crüe until 2015 and it's a biography and also a musical and it is about how Mötley Crüe became Mötley Crüe and things that happened between them personally and as a band, my favorite chary is Nikki Sixx because I love him in real life and he is my crush but also because for better or for worse I'm identify whit him and this is why I was so impacted with this movie but even when I was shocked I enjoyed a lot, I cried, I laughed and I would see it a thousand times and of course I recommend this movie even though I know that because of the topics it touches on and who is about, many people don't like it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/04/24 Full Review Honest D I love rock and roll, metal, punk..... etc. But Motley Crue are garbage can people who did not deserve the money or recognition that they got. They have always been the equivalent of fastfood. If fastfood killed your brain cells, gave you h#rpes and was the human manifestation of the spiritual void of modern capitallist society. There's so much better music in the world. As if all of that wasnt enough, this movie is a complete trainwreck! Like it really does suck! Having MGK in this atrocity makes sense tho.... he is just as much of a poop stain as anyone in the band ever was. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/24 Full Review Argonaut J The Dirt was a long awaited dip into a very nostalgic pool. The story of Mötley Crüe, the band I had plastered over every wall in my room as a kid. The story was as wild as I expected with a couple stories Id heard about, and a few that I hadn't. Anyways and hour and a half of sex, drugs, and rock n roll. They were known as the wild bunch the wildest craziest rock n roll group as far as reputations go. The movie was well done. The actors were very true to their characters and the movie was great. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/24 Full Review lena o fun watch. liked Mick's portrayal in this movie, I love sarcastic guys lol Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jamie Ludwig Chicago Reader Even Airheads, the 1994 comedy that spoofed Sunset Strip hard-rock culture, had a more gripping storyline and emotional arc (and certainly more laughs) than this tale of a real band that helped define that scene. Feb 21, 2020 Full Review Amy Nicholson FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's very regressive in its politics. Sep 24, 2019 Full Review David Fear Rolling Stone This is rock bad-boy lore as a rocking bore, an endless parade of recreated afterparty ecstasy and emptiness that robs The Dirt of the vicarious thrill it had on the page. Rated: 2/5 Mar 25, 2019 Full Review Kenneth Seward Jr. IGN Movies Netflix’s The Dirt won’t win any awards nor will it inspire any would-be musicians, but it is entertaining and offers up a compelling story about Mötley Crüe.
