Cinematography, the direction, the performances by the actors were all spectacular. We can see the influence of Alfonso Cuarón especially with the Visuals of the film Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved, loved, loved this film. Sensitive. So much actually happens, so many emotions and inner life situations. Complex. The final scene's message breathtaking. What would have happened if... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Whilst completely behind the narrative journey, and the heavy reliance on the rolling scenes to carry both the traditional music score and said narrative, this is at least 45mins too long. It's meandering through the story shows off the style of music, but misses the focus on it being a drama not a documentary. As a result, it doesn't deliver the sense of cultural significance of what we're being shown. That said, the detailed character study is incredible Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Aug 11, 2021 Full Review Namrata Joshi National Herald (India) The genuinely talented who are left with no option but to languish in anonymity. The Disciple overwhelmed me with adeep sense of loss that underlines it. May 18, 2021 Full Review Peter Rainer Christian Science Monitor Does a movie about a devoted modern-day practitioner of Hindustani classical music sound overly esoteric? The Disciple, written and directed by Chaitanya Tamhane, is anything but. What it's really about is the spiritual balm that great art can provide. Rated: 4.5/5 May 14, 2021 Full Review Arun A.K Vague Visages Without being judgmental, The Disciple succeeds in questioning the age-old notion of sacrifice as a means to attaining higher goals. Sep 26, 2023 Full Review Ishita Sengupta The Indian Express If Disciple feels more personal than most, it is because its preoccupations are more noble than what it appears.
