What to Know

Critics Consensus

Allegiant improves on previous entries in The Divergent Series on a few superficial levels, but they aren't enough to counteract a sense of growing boredom with a franchise that's gone on too long.

Udita Jhunjhunwala Livemint The series has seen a steady decline from the surprisingly palatable opener, Divergent, with its political metaphors so smoothly handled. It became clunkier with subsequent chapters... Aug 15, 2019 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Allegiant a tedious exercise in futility even fans of the series will have a hard time finding anything worthwhile to talk about once it comes to an end. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 11, 2016 Full Review Roxana Hadadi Chesapeake Family Magazine Allegiant manages to be profoundly confusing and almost entirely inert. The film's strong action sequences can't redeem a conflicting, irritating plot. Rated: 2/5 Aug 2, 2016 Full Review Joe Lipsett Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr Podcast This is abysmal. The adaptation fundamentally misunderstands the source material, has terrible FX and an even worse Miles Teller performance. Worst of all, the film doesn't know how or when to use Woodley, who has always been the series' greatest asset Rated: 1/5 Sep 5, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Builds to a finale that feels less like the culmination of three films than a last-minute justification for another sequel in an overlong, unwanted franchise. Rated: 1.5/4 Apr 18, 2022 Full Review Therese Lacson Nerdophiles The third installment of The Divergent Series shows a shiny new world that has become all too familiar to us and therefore delivers nothing new... Megan C Love the Divergent Series! Great sci-fi movie series! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/17/24 Full Review Gorptholemew T 🍀 0.6/10 Erm I’m here for Bill Skarsgård I don’t think you guys know how to utilize this beautiful star like he’s the only reason I’m not giving this movie a 0%, well OK the constantly best thing in this trilogy has got to be Miles teller like I love his assholeness so consider that two reasons. With all that said, this is definitely still a certified stinker like by this point, I don’t think you can expect any of these movies to have even an inch of quality it’s more of a Adam of quality that’s how Id put it. Like OK some of the pieces are all right but it doesn’t have the characters or story to pull it all together like wasn’t Zoe Kravitz pissed off in the last film, We never explored any development. it don’t make no sense. Grade F Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/03/24 Full Review Sammy B No. Just no. Don't even bother. It really is not like the book, which is better (the book is always better). Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/28/24 Full Review Audience Member Forgot that they didn't really finish the series back then. The ending leaves off on a slight cliff hanger but it was a decent movie overall. Originally there was going to be a part 2 to this movie and I really wish they had made it despite the lack of success of this one. I am still definitely a fan of this series watching it again all these years later. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/18/24 Full Review Emily M I think it's disappointing that they couldn't make a second part when this movie is better than most current movies . I hope that can make an Allegiant part 2 again. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/10/24 Full Review Audience Member Nothing like the book, they removed a character and a lot of scenes from the book. The book ending made me cry, but the movie made me want to DIE. No emotion, only the power of friendship BS. Where is Peter's want to be a better person? Where is Four's BETRAYAL? Where is URIAH?! Where's Nina's plot? Where is the David/Natalie DRAMA. WHERE ARE THEY? I am appalled, I know this movie came out forever ago, but I don't care. Give me justice Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/26/24 Full Review Read all reviews
