At 7:07 PM, the occult club members are holding a ritual ceremony to summon "Master Salt" in Kamono Girls' High School in Tokyo, to help one of the members, Nanako, who has been struck by mysterious incidents. They draw a pentagon and a circle with purified salt, and burn a sealed envelope with a written wish. Out of nowhere, a mysterious woman in a hakama appears with a blast of wind. It is the divine protector, Master Salt. She sees through the identity of the spirit that cursed Nanako and repels the curse. After that event, Nanako and her friends ask Master Salt to repel the curses that bring misery to people. They discover that this world is full of people who curse others--a man who swindles the elderly out of their money, a businessman who commits domestic violence, and a university professor who denies the students' spiritual beliefs and suppresses the students by threatening to flunk them. One after another, people ask Master Salt for help. The occult club members eventually find out the secret scandal of the son and the successor of a renowned company, Tendo Group. What will Master Salt and the girls encounter in the battle against a powerful enemy?

Some of the worst acting, dialogue, and visual effects you could ever see. The constant, annoying preachiness is sometimes offensive, such as when the so-called hero inflicts victim shaming on a domestic violence survivor. This movie is complete garbage.

Even when you separate the religious movement behind the movie, there is still a lot of bad here. Blaming demons for someone not believing in UFOs is bad enough, but telling a victim of domestic abuse she is just as responsible is a little much.

This was the first movie that I have been disappointed with. I am okay with reading subtitles so a Japanese movie with them speaking in English was awful. Also I felt like it was too kiddish.

Although the English dubbing could have been better, the movie is quite the wonderful enchanting experience. Going over many real world topics, this movie shows us a classic story in a new unseen way, like ever before! To add on - the musical score is beautiful, and the quotes are divine! I would love to see this movie again if I could, such a delightful strong female lead.

Besides being one of the most unique and diverse movies that I have seen in quite a while, The Divine Protector - Master Salt Begins, is also a fun and interesting story. Taking a realistic religious twist to the classic superhero genre, this movie is a must have for anyone who wants to have a fun time!
