Meredith (Christine Lahti), an agoraphobic writer, spends all of her time in her apartment. She decides to rent out her spare room, and her new tenants, Jane (Jennifer Rubin) and Pete (Dylan McDermott), are an amiable pair of siblings -- or so Meredith thinks. When she discovers that they are really thieving, murderous lovers, they begin to torment her. Meredith desperately wants to reach out for help, but to do so, she'll have to overcome her paralyzing fear of the outside world.
