Avaricious George MacAllister (John Carroll) convinces his girlfriend, Carlotta Novak (Vera Ralston), to marry his wealthy brother, Barry (Robert Paige), because he has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and hasn't long to live. Barry, who has long admired Carlotta, defies family advisers and, on his own, proposes to Carlotta. nick s This is a great noir movie. Lots of really nice camera work. A tantalising story concept that was well executed. Acting was spot on. Hard to fault.
