Jessica Kiang Variety The road to hell is paved with bad intentions in Spanish actor Raul Arvalo's auspicious, uncompromising genre-inflected debut. Sep 6, 2016 Full Review Jorge Loser Espinof Although all the cast is magnificent, the protagonism is for Antonio de la Torre. Much has been said about his interpretation and I contribute nothing if I repeat that he, and his furious gaze, push the film to the top. [Full Review in Spanish] Aug 16, 2019 Full Review Pilar Ayuso El Nuevo Herald (Miami) The film begins well, as a thriller and ends better, with the cadence of a Western. [Full review in Spanish] Apr 20, 2017 Full Review Alberto Abuín Espinof A movie that comes from the heart, and gets deep inside. [Full review in Spanish] Sep 19, 2016 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews Arvalo offers up a mid-movie twist that essentially changes everything and paves the way for a second half rife with electrifying sequences. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 17, 2016 Full Review José Martín El antepenúltimo mohicano This film deserves to be salute with all honors for being one of the most brutal and outstanding debuts of national cinema. Audience Member It was filmed and edited well. But the script lacked depth and tension. The story arc boring and predictable Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review jelisije j A good revenge movie, but it was nothing special. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Late R Well-acted and with a tone that feels grounded in reality, ‘The Fury of a Patient Man' introduces us to José (played by Antonio de la Torre) whose resolve is to be tested and his character questioned, but what really makes it well worth the watch is the way that it starts out as one type of film that seems to be going in a particular direction only for co-writer/director Raúl Arévalo to hit you with an interesting midway twist that changes the course, leading it to end as a different film entirely. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/30/21 Full Review Audience Member Quiet, surly, and undistracted, AdlT is perfectly cast. The limited reveals of the backstory as the film progresses works in its favour, as it keeps you guessing. The thrilling elements follow character build-up, and lead on to more deliberate, Western-style hunting of the protagonists. The stylisation of the movie works really well, with it playing out as part Thriller; part Western, and the writing is good. I do feel like the beginning of the movie could have gone a little further to show us each of the protagonists, as well as what happened in the Jewellery Store Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review georgan g The plot and characters subtitles are fascinating but the subtitles fly by. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Greg M Very well done film that is patient in its deliverance but unwavering in its promises. Not gratuitous, but it makes you think a bit. What I especially like about this particular slow burn is that it is purposeful, and has a very clear path of intent without failing to deliver like a lot of slow burn movies that end up going nowhere. In the end, this movie plays out with the tempo the star of the film deserves. I thought it was excellent. I can understand why it's not everyone's thing, but I recommend it none the less.
