Audience Member How can this film be so unknown? Its an excellent Kids/Family movie! This film should have been great at the box office but somehow the marketing dept. miss handled it and blew a great opportunity to merchandise the heck out of this film. We only discovered this by buying a DVD at DollarTree store - but our grandkids are going to love watching this very clever film many times. We enjoyed the unique storyline, great art direction, set work, and wardrobe. The period sets were excellent. The hard work the filmmakers invested into this film makes it hold up well and will do nothing but gain audience as time goes on. Watch it and have fun. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It's a big mess and to me was super confusing. I didn't even make it all the way through this movie and I'll definitely never watch this again. This movie is a waste of your time, watch something worthwhile. 0/5 stars Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Somewhere, under layers and layers of added on faux European style and needless complexity is a fairly simple plot. Watching, you feel compelled to like it because of it's artistic efforts. But the efforts don't really go anywhere and I was left with the feeling that I'd watched more of an homage to other films than an actual film itself. Don't, whatever you do, get up to go to.the toilet or to put the kettle on during it. You'll come back and will.have lost the plot entirely. Joseph Fiennes looks more like his brother with each passing day. Unlike his brother however, his career in films is on a downwards trajectory for some reason. You wouldn't see Ralph in something like this. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed this one, nice family movie that kept you guessing what was next in the story Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Enjoyable Sunday afternoon movies for the family. Very enjoyable and lots of surprises. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review john s Warning: this is a silly, tangent-loving, art deco carnival family film that Disney used to crank out before Walt became a popsicle. Meaning kids with a short attention span will dig it, and stuffy adults should revert to their carefree days and just go with it. There's a helluva lotta colourful crap crammed into this bursting bit of celluloid, leaving very little time for contemplation, which is fine, cuz the ride is the joy here. The crazy plot involves board game inventors, balloon rides, sinking schools, an invisible girl, and of course Ed Asner. Creating whimsical magic worlds can go horribly wrong, but "The Games Maker" is smart enough to keep the action moving fast enough to distract from gaping plot holes, and enhanced with a cool retro vibe, it is a wonderful feast for the eyes. - hipCRANK Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Deborah Young Hollywood Reporter A fine new addition to the library of imaginative children's film fantasy. Nov 17, 2015 Full Review Radheyan Simonpillai NOW Toronto Writer/director Juan Pablo Buscarini manages the occasional cute touch and pleasing art deco designs in this made-on-the-cheap children's fantasy, where the special effects are poor and the starved imagination can only feed on J.K. Rowling's dust. Rated: 1/5 Nov 14, 2015 Full Review Brad Wheeler Globe and Mail The plot might be a bit labyrinthian for kids, but, then, the young ones always do manage to find their way, don't they. Rated: 3/4 Nov 13, 2015 Full Review Brian Costello Common Sense Media Board-game themed fantasy has bullying, violence. Rated: 2/5 Jun 8, 2016 Full Review Chris Knight National Post You know what? The Games Maker is 111 minutes long but would take as least twice as long to explain. Rated: 2/4 Nov 12, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews
