A very human tech doc, THE GIG IS UP uncovers the real costs of the platform economy through the lives of workers from around the world for companies including Uber, Amazon and Deliveroo. From delivering food and driving ride shares to tagging images for AI, millions of people around the world are finding work task by task online. John Doyle Globe and Mail A disturbing look at the gig economy on four continents. It's a punchy and anger-inciting doc by Shannon Walsh Dec 4, 2021 Full Review Sheri Linden The Hollywood Reporter The pandemic has brought into sharp relief the ways that essential workers are underappreciated and underpaid, and The Gig Is Up makes brutally clear that we're in a state of emergency on this front. dave d "The Gig is Up" breaks down a very complicated labor issue that is completely ignored by corporate media and does so in a way that is frightening and informative. Documentaries that shake the core don't get attention, but this is one to seek out so you can learn how to fight back. It's one-sided, but that's a fair portrait of what multi-national corporations are doing to the average worker. Who knew there was so much corruption in so many Billion $ companies that are hemorrhaging cash. The common denominator is the worker is getting crushed.
