Maggie Lee Variety The lack of rip-roaring martial arts or even a half-decent storyline will leave genre aficionados feeling short-changed. Jun 18, 2013 Full Review V.A. Musetto New York Post The plot is of little importance - the spectacular action and gorgeous landscapes and costumes are what matter. Rated: 3/4 Jun 14, 2013 Full Review Manohla Dargis New York Times The blades fly as do the heads, but the movie remains disappointingly aground. Rated: 2/5 Jun 13, 2013 Full Review Brent McKnight The Last Thing I See This is an action movie with very little action, a period piece with very little history, and the story of brothers and betrayal with very little earnest emotion. Rated: C Jul 8, 2020 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Any topical relevance for the material is compromised by a script that is woefully clumsy and melodramatic. Jun 15, 2013 Full Review Betty Jo Tucker ReelTalk Movie Reviews Although a bit too gory for me and difficult to follow at times, the film also boasts some gorgeous visuals as well as intriguing characters played by Ethan Juan and Xiaoming Huang. Audience Member A little disappointed while it's not a bad film per say, it gets bogged down in a lot of excess melodrama and plot devices half these types of films have nowadays making it pretty generic. Unfortunately not enough actual guillotining of heads to make it stand out. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The name speaks for itself - a hundred ways to cut of heads (as well as other body parts). Apart from that this work is characterized by the near total absence of anything even closely resembling a plot and really, REALLY bad acting. On top of that after the first 30 minutes the film feels like a Chinese Soap gone terribly wrong. Oh my... Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Supertrash! impossible to watch also if you like this kind of movies. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Very weak and uninteresting after the first initial scene. This movie could have been more as a text and even with the action scenes but gets bogged down ion strange scenarios and awkward acting and dialogue. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Maybe this movie shouldn't be call The Guillotines, but call it the canon or guns! This movie do not make the guillotine shine! The worriers will just die without even lifting the weapon! Stupid! But this China made movie has better acting than others and quite a good story, even though it doesn't show much of the guillotines! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Even the great production can't help the absurd plot... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
