Jesse Hassenger AV Club Gone are the original animators, the core voice cast, Scrat, and the fun. Rated: D+ Feb 7, 2022 Full Review Natalia Winkelman New York Times Adults may find themselves absorbed in nit-picking this movie's voices to gauge their fidelity to the originals - at least it distracts from the dialogue. Jan 28, 2022 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com While I know I'm not the target audience, I still shouldn't have loathed every second I spent watching The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild. Rated: 1/4 Jan 28, 2022 Full Review Jason Flatt But Why Tho? A Geek Community The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild is a perfectly enjoyable entry in the Ice Age franchise with nice morals and comedy that doesn’t get especially grating. The animation is just a bit uneven. Dale R Crash and Eddie, with a desire to become their own possums, run away and join Buck in the Lost World. The animation for this film was not done by Blue Sky Studios as the previous films in this franchise were. Disney (now the owners of Ice Age Franchise through the Fox merger) outsource the animation to Bardel Entertainment in Vancouver. While the animation isn’t terrible, there are moments that the original animators are missed. Simon Pegg, who voices Buck, is the only returning voice actor and his work is appreciated. The rest of the voice cast does their best impressions of the original voice cast, but they do not always hit the mark. The title is misleading, as Buck Wild is not the main protagonist, instead Crash and Eddie are. The villain is a “throw away” villain with typical “rule the world” syndrome and explained through exposition. This film got a few chuckles out of me, but most of the jokes were for a younger demographic, or didn’t land. If you enjoy the Ice Age Franchise, maybe check this out to see if you like where Disney might take the franchise. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Caden R Terrible. 8 minutes in and I’m cringing at the fact the original voice cast and animation is different. It’s not it son, why even make the movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/14/24 Full Review Autobot C "Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild" is a lackluster addition to the beloved animated franchise, failing to capture the magic and charm of its predecessors. Released in 2022, this film, directed by John C. Donkin and Ricardo Curtis, falls flat with its uninspired story, forgettable characters, and lackluster animation. The film follows the adventures of Buck, the eccentric weasel from previous installments, as he embarks on a quest to save the world from a dinosaur-riding villain named Rudy. Along the way, Buck is joined by a trio of forgettable sidekicks who do little to enhance the story or engage the audience. What sets "Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild" apart is its sheer mediocrity. The film's uninspired script, written by Jim Hecht, fails to deliver any memorable moments or compelling character arcs, relying instead on tired tropes and predictable plot twists. The humor falls flat, with jokes that feel forced and repetitive, failing to elicit more than a polite chuckle from even the youngest viewers. The animation in "Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild" is serviceable at best, with bland character designs, uninspired backgrounds, and choppy motion that lacks the fluidity and detail of previous entries in the series. The film's visual aesthetic feels cheap and rushed, lacking the polish and attention to detail that fans have come to expect from the franchise. The voice cast of "Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild" delivers lackluster performances, with Simon Pegg reprising his role as Buck but failing to recapture the charm and wit that made the character memorable in earlier films. The supporting cast does little to elevate the material, with forgettable performances that fail to leave a lasting impression. Overall, "Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild" is a forgettable and disappointing entry in the franchise that offers little to recommend it. With its uninspired story, lackluster animation, and forgettable characters, it's a film that fails to recapture the magic of its predecessors and will leave audiences feeling cold. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/24 Full Review Audience Member It looks and feels like a draft render episode of Dinosaur Train. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/31/24 Full Review Idan Charles L This is a movie someone made, that's it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/04/24 Full Review Taylor T The animation just felt unfinished and the story just fell flat Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
