Audience Member I dont remember this movie at all, but i know i watched it, that must mean it really wasnt a good movie at all. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Good try, but depressing. Frank Whaley does a fine job acting. His direction is a bit negative though and a real downer. It was an uncomfortable film to watch. Not a bad film at all, it just left me feeling bummed. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Effectively depressing but lacking any hope or message with impact. God bless Frank Whaley, the guy is talented and gives this film his all, but it just doesn't come together to form a memorable or meaningful experience. Hardcore Whaley buffs will find Whaley's writing/directing/acting job worth it, but others will be bored after the first half-hour of ennui. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the most wretched and self-indulgent movies I've ever seen. It was like having to sit through a two hour recitation of poetry from a thirteen-year-old goth kid. Everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves, especially Whaley, for producing such sappy, depressing tripe. AND THAT DAMN PIANO!! Absolute torture! If anyone feels the need to experience this movie, all you have to do is drive to the Pine Barrens in Jersey on a cold winters day and gently place a gun in your mouth. Oops, looks like you can't afford bullets, so there's nothing left to do but crumple into a fetal ball and cry and cry until your tears form frozen walrus tusks on your chin. Boo-fricking-hoo. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member No, no, and no. I was rooting for the customers in the comedy joint. Get him off the stage and out of our life. Save your morose meanderings for another day. Stand-up comedy isn't a therapy session for the comedian. What's even scarier is that it was adapted from a stage play! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Such a great film. It speaks to me like no other. Jimmy just wants to be happy but as hard as he tries it's always just beyond his reach. Eventually he realizes that everything he always wanted was right in front of him all along, but it's too late. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

V.A. Musetto New York Post The film, like Jimmy's routines, could use a few good laughs. Rated: 2/4 Dec 13, 2002 Full Review Stephen Holden New York Times If the movie succeeds in instilling a wary sense of 'there but for the grace of God,' it is far too self-conscious to draw you deeply into its world. Rated: 2/5 Dec 13, 2002 Full Review Leslie Camhi Village Voice There's an admirable rigor to Jimmy's relentless anger, and to the script's refusal of a happy ending, but as those monologues stretch on and on, you realize there's no place for this story to go but down.
