farah r If you ignore the bad acting and low budget you'll find that The Kindred isn't really that bad. The mystery at the heart of the story was intriguing and fueled my interest just enough to keep me watching till the end. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The Kindred struggles with not knowing what type of film it wants to be for the first two acts and finds its way in the third. but it might be a case of too little too late. In the end I just wanted a prequel film for Sack Head. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review brad p ‘The Kindred' Makes for a Heartfelt Thriller with a Weak Sendoff Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Went in with quite good expectations and was unfortunately disappointed. I found it really quite slow at the start - half way in do you begin to feel it's actually started. I didn't care for any of the characters so when something bad happened I felt nothing. The acting was decent though unfortunately I didn't really like the lead, I found her character expressionless so hard to read and sympathise for. Sadly I wouldn't recommend this movie if you're saving it for a film night in etc. The twist would have been better if I still cared towards the end. Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News Director Jamie Pearson creates a "Rosemary's Baby"-like vibe while the screenplay by Christian J. Hearn takes us to some very gnarly and despairing psychological places. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 6, 2022 Full Review Greg Hyde Spectrum Culture This badly made psychological horror is as lacking in narrative logic as it is uninvolving. Apr 1, 2022 Full Review Tom Cassidy Common Sense Media Occasionally televisual but not to its detriment, The Kindred is a perfectly paced indie horror packed with plenty of themes to explore, lots of thrills, and great performances. Rated: 4/5 Jan 25, 2022 Full Review Debopriyaa Dutta Screen Rant Although grounded by a convincing central performance, The Kindred is too predictable for its own good, while being sluggish in terms of execution. Rated: 2/5 Jan 21, 2022 Full Review Kat Hughes THN The British kitchen-sink drama version of The Babadook, The Kindred presents some chilling ideas whilst also shining a light on the hardships faced by some who struggle to connect with their offspring. Rated: 4/5 Jan 17, 2022 Full Review Abbie Bernstein Assignment X The Kindred may work for those who want an English thriller that wraps up in under two hours. It delivers more in terms of plot than drama. Rated: B- Jan 13, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews
