Serge L Dan Zukovic's "The Last Big Thing" is one of my favorite independent films. Saw it a couple times on Showtime back in the day, and it has stuck in my mind as truly subversive and hilarious cinema. Worth a check out if you can find it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Audience Member One of my absolute favorite lesser known/underrated films from the 90's indie film boom. Prescient, searingly funny, totally unique. A real gem that should be checked out by anybody that likes original and edgy cinema. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Audience Member The Last Big Thing is one of those Indie Hipster movies about nothing in particular. There is a sort of twist at least but its more of an "Oh" than an "OMG". Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Frances H Some bad acting, but on purpose, with clever dialogue that satirizes the pseudo intellectual who is aghast at the inanity of American pop culture. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/15/14 Full Review Audience Member Oh I love the way Dan Zukovic goes over the top critiquing pop culture/art and himself/hipsters here... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Hate this ultra-low budget indie post-modern satire for its pretension and shallow yet blinding glimpses at the obvious. Love this ultra-low budget indie post-modern satire for its originality, its anti-Hollywood sensibilities , the logic of its insane meta-conclusion, its warped astringent wit. I think it lies somewhere in between, where a decent story would have corrected its most obvious flaws and allowed its most obvious virtues to shine.
