Duncan G Awful movie, the plot and characters absolutely stink. The main actor is the worst actor I've ever seen in a movie shouts constantly but is so wooden. Wish I could have the two hours of my life back. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/10/24 Full Review Johann The main guy CANNOT act to save his life. Cringe level 100% Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/04/24 Full Review D C Truly one of worst movies I've ever seen. Shame on everyone involved and shame on Hulu for streaming it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/07/23 Full Review Lane W Definitely had good parts, the music and environments/mood setting were the best parts but the story and premise really could've used some work. I'm not all that familiar with possession horror films so it was probably scarier for me than those who are. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/29/23 Full Review Lagrange P A solid basic premise with decent performances and enough intelligence to keep things interesting until the third act. At that point the movie lurches sideways in a hurry and rushes at breakneck speed to a sad whimper of an ending. What I'm sure is intended to be an eerie and ambiguous conclusion is instead an utter letdown, with the final card conceit bringing sharply into focus the fact that key plot and character development points won't even be provided, much less resolved. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/26/23 Full Review Jason K How... no seriously, how did this get 83%?! The scariest thing about this movie is that it removed 108 minutes from my life. The script flow was chaos. The acting was atrocious, save for the two priests, and just... this was just plain bad. Maybe the worst horror movie I've watched in the last ten years; and that's coming from someone who's watched "The Accursed." Ugh, I'm going to bed. Rob Rector Film Threat As the editor and director, Kincaide demonstrates a strong grasp of mood and scene construction. But, as a writer, he fills the first half with too much exposition, familiarity, and throwaway secondary characters. Rated: 5/10 May 25, 2022 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com ...a respectable entry in an increasingly disreputable genre.... Rated: 3/5 Dec 3, 2021 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film The psychological dimension adds depth to the story. Rated: 3/5 Nov 24, 2021 Full Review Kat Hughes THN The importance of characters and world building shines bright in Leroy Kincaide's assured debut feature. Incredibly well constructed, The Last Rite has all the right ingredients for a great possession tale. Rated: 4/5 Nov 19, 2021 Full Review Anton Bitel Projected Figures In Leroy Kincaide's debut feature, supernatural, psychological and spiritual frames vie to explain what has got into a young woman Oct 31, 2021 Full Review Martin Unsworth Starburst A very British take on evil entities and possession that, while not breaking any new ground, has some very effective moments.
