In this love letter to the era of the video store, Nyla brings in a collection of films to quite possibly the last video store on earth only to discover she has the legendary 'cursed tape'. A film that holds the power to connect the real world to the dimension where movie fantasy exists as reality. Nyla and the video store owner unwittingly awaken a long-dormant curse that unleashes a series of classic cinematic villains plucked from the bowels of the B-movies themselves.

Josiah Teal Film Threat Rutherford, Kennedy, Roach, and the whole team have created a fun synth-heavy look at VHS culture that is more than a pop culture journey but a film for the die-hard video store connoisseurs. Rated: 8/10 Feb 5, 2025 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed While the story mostly work, the nostalgia here feels manufactured [...] it all feels like it wants to push the buttons, it pushes the buttons, but something is missing. Dec 28, 2024 Full Review Drew Tinnin Dread Central If you unabashedly love bad B-movies, The Last Video Store pays respect to the VHS obsessives with a mostly effective story about what happens when the drive-in characters decide to fight back. Feb 17, 2024 Full Review Martin Unsworth Starburst It’s all a glorious ode to the schlocky titles we loved in the ‘80s, right down to the simple visual and practical effects. Think Charles Band meets early Sam Raimi, and you won’t be far off. Rated: 3/5 Nov 9, 2023 Full Review Kat Hughes THN Moody neon’s, a pounding synth score, and buckets of gore, create the perfect fertile ground for this loving throwback to the movies that made horror and cult cinema what it is today. Rated: 4/5 Oct 29, 2023 Full Review Matt Donato Slashfilm It's a meta-horror blast of nostalgia about how loving movies can be both a blessing and a curse. Dustin D I feel like I got click bated. Not one horror monster, a cheesy love story, and thugs that seem extremely ignorant and avoidable. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/25 Full Review Read all reviews
