Audience Member I just wasted an hour of 45 minutes on a terrible movie that I kept thinking would get going but it didn't until the last 15 minutes or so, and then I didn't feel like I knew any of the characters. There were so many obvious mistakes, this is my favorite...The Irish guy and his new partner in crime have to cross a teeth chattering freezing Creek on foot and the very next day a female is completely nude taking a relaxing bath/swim just humming away, no chill at all. And that same scene with the girl in the pond, it's supposed to be morning but it's clearly evening, the sun is setting as can be seen in the girl in pond scenes, almost dark! The camera points to the boys where it's bright daylight and back to the girl where it's almost dark, and if nothing else gives that away the crickets and "Katy-Dids do, they're just chirping away. The only good acting I saw came from the Indians and the little buck tooth boy, he was cute and fit the part well. I would recommend this movie if it were the last one on Earth. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member A muddled story, poor dialog, too many characters who serve no purpose, and pacing that drags till near the end. There are some very talented people in the cast but they are saddled with unrealistic, overblown lines. This is based on a true story about as much as The Wizard of Oz is based on the fact that they did have scarecrows in Kansas during the Great Depression. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A western that seems to wander before the story line is revealed. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review don s A Western based on true events. That may be so, but the movie seemed pointless. It is made up of events that are smashed together trying to lend an air of significance, but in the end it fails to establish why the area is called Hell's Gate. By this depiction, it wasn't much of a battle and the participants are all bit players. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't see what this movie was even made. there was no point. and I am a summer glau fan. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Tanner Beard, the director, started this as an ambitious project but somehow managed to dilute this take on the allegedly true story so much, that became insignificant. There is a good Western hidden somewhere but not many people would bother because there is so many other useless things going around which grab your attention and waste time going nowhere. Beard, the writer, spent more time developing characters which are disappearing around the story than building a story itself. Beard, the actor (stars as Irish never-do-well James McKinnon) never shows why would we accept him and follow him - while the bunch of other classic spaghetti Western-style group of antiheroes, men who normally would have nothing to do with one another but who are thrust together by circumstances beyond their control - are all doing their own thing. I could not fault the acting under circumstances, especially in the last part when finally picks up the pace, but by then it's too late. Uninspiring and without strength and conviction!
