      Audience Consensus

The story is nothing special and the ending might be a letdown, but there’s a welcome focus on the emotional toll taken by police work -- and you can’t argue with that cast.

Mark O Wow. GREAT movie. It's a slow burn but so well worth it for the story. Someone really did their homework with the writing about profiling and crime scene forensics. Powerhouse performances by the main cast. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/27/21 Full Review Steven Great suspense movie. Love the movie plot !! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/07/21 Full Review dee carroll L Slow, slow. The worst for Denzel. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/24/21 Full Review Richard Liked Denzel Washington's character. In fact, his star power and amazing acting acumen drew me to the film. And three actors Academy Award Winners as the leads, how could I go wrong? Somehow the movie went wrong very disappointing. Danny Leigh Financial Times What saves the movie is the star. Malek is stuck at surface level, but with Washington you see the soul-deep breakage of a character whom the abyss has gazed back into. Rated: 3/5 Mar 17, 2021 Full Review Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review Just an overdose of acting pills, and the rest is just boring. Mar 16, 2021 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) It's about as fresh as a bloated, bile-tinged corpse dredged from the Los Angeles river, with a markedly similar colour palette to boot. Rated: 3/5 Mar 13, 2021 Full Review Jennifer Bisset CNET Every moment is agitated by the volatility of '90s LA, with a jaw-dropping conclusion. Mar 31, 2023 Full Review M.N. Miller Ready Steady Cut What exactly went wrong with Mr. Hancock’s ode to ’90s Hollywood crime thrillers? The Little Things is frustratingly bland. Rated: 2/5 Sep 11, 2022 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “The Little Things” proudly embraces its gritty neo-noir flavor while leaving the impression that the film could have been plucked right out of the early 1990’s, back when crime thrillers were all the rave.
