Set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy of films, "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim" tells the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. A sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg--a mighty fortress that will later come to be known as Helm's Deep. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction.

War of the Rohirrim is a prequel to the Peter Lord of the Rings trilogy, and it doesn't let the audience forget that. Which is a problem, because compared to the classic films from 20-plus years ago, War of the Rohirrim simply can't keep up.

massive LOTR and massive Kenji Kamiyama anime fan... I did enjoy the movie but for me it wasn't quite enough of either. It didn't let itself be a Kenji Kamiyama piece enough and couldn't be LOTR enough. still good but not going to be particularly outstanding or memorable.

This movie had quite a bit of potential that gets dropped in the last 3 act of the movie. Although I liked the visuals, fights and especially the oliphant scene near the beginning of the movie, the plot got lost in the sauce after Helm gets really cold. Also Wulf is way too dumb.

This was an interesting concept that was visually very appealing with an art style I wouldnt have expected to see an adaption of LotR done in but was pleasantly surprised. Not on cannon but still very enjoyable for what it is.
