Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It has some captivating moments when on top of its game. Rated: B- May 16, 2021 Full Review Marie Asner Phantom Tollbooth In Mistress Maneater, body language does the acting. Whether it be face or biceps, it tells a story. Ava can do a page of dialogue with just her face, and this is matched with Shannon Brown and Mickey O'Sullivan. Rated: 3/4 Apr 16, 2021 Full Review Alan Ng Film Threat It's not that The Misadventures of Mistress Maneater is horrible, I've just seen it before, and I've heard these jokes over and over again. Still, hang in there for a fun and exciting ride. Rated: 7/10 Apr 9, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Kolo P This is a novel take on the old rom com genre with a wide blend of romance, cat and mouse sleuthing and redemption thrown in for good measure. The films initial scenes certainly set the stage to explain Ava's part time occupation but thankfully don't continue and they remain for the most part, a backstory to the character that we can reference occasionally throughout the narrative. The acting is well done and rarely drops down into frequently seen poor indie film dialogue acting and this helps to keep the interest in a well crafted and written movie. Overall Ava is a character the audience wants to root for despite the somewhat dubious methods to achieve things and like all rom com movies, we have a satisfactory ending even when all the dark secrets and hurts are revealed and dealt with. Overall the film has good character development, likeable personalities and visually appealing cinematography (and some dubious Russian bad guys!) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Jose D After wasting several hours of my life watching two big-budget movies at this rainy weekend, I came across this movie by chance. I loved it! I thought it was rather refreshing to watch a great movie that does not appeal to unnecessary nudity or over-the-top violence, or that 'preaches' to the audience (pun intended) about some topic currently in vogue. Just great storyline, likeable and relatable characters, and well acted. Two thumbs up from me! 👍👍 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/06/24 Full Review James C First off, be warned, this is an INDIE FILM and there is NO NUDITY, so if you don't enjoy either of those things then The Misadventures of Mistress Maneater is not for you. BUT.... If you like indie films with WITTY WRITING and a STRONG FEMALE PROTAGONIST then stay tuned! Writer and Lead Actress, Lorrisa Julianus, did a wonderful job at bringing the brilliant yet downtrodden Ava to life. The relationship between Priest Radovan, played by Mickey O'Sullivan, and Ava was a fun mashup that I hadn't seen before, that being priset meets dominatrix. lol. Both are talented actors and their performances never pulled me out of the story. Now for the bad, I do feel the film could have been just a bit shorter coming in at almost two hours long. The lighting and sound was not the best as some of the dialogue sounded blown out and the lighting was a bit meh at times. But, that is to be expected with indie films. So like I said, if you enjoy Indie films with a strong female lead, good humor, and unique twists then definitely give The Misadventures of Mistress Maneater a try! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/24/24 Full Review Ruby C The Misadventures of Mistress Maneater is a well written and witty dark comedy about a dominatrix working hard to escape her career. She is actually a genius and did not choose this career that was thrust upon her but she is determined to do what it takes to free herself from a life that has become hers. The journey this film takes you on is unpredictable and entertaining. The acting is solid and the lead, Lorrisa Julianus, is not only beautiful, but a bad ass too. It's beautiful to see a strong woman who wrote an entertaining film that is smart and tackles the macho man mentality but is still vulnerable enough to allow herself to fall in love. This film has but kicking, mobsters, domination and so much more to keep you entertained thru the whole movie. Definitely recommend! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/18/24 Full Review Larry W Lorrisa Julianus skilfully takes center stage as Ava Moriarty, a dominatrix with a magnetic presence and a knack for trouble. The film cleverly mixes genres, from sleuthing and scandal to heartwarming romance, all while Ava juggles a shady proposition from a crooked mayor and a vengeful ex. Julianus shines not only as the star but also in her dual role as director, infusing the movie with humor, style, and depth. It’s a quirky indie that defies expectations, offering a fresh take on the rom-com genre. Dive in for a ride that’s as unpredictable as it is entertaining!
