Jayne Nelson Radio Times Watching these 11-year-olds bickering and bonding while discussing life, death and Maori folklore is uplifting. Rated: 4/5 Nov 20, 2025 Full Review Jason Blake Limelight Shot on location in the Icelandic highlands outside Reykjavík, it’s a visually arresting film, too, with Kjartansdóttir creating space for the viewer to breathe, even as the characters struggle to do the same. Jul 11, 2025 Full Review Valerie Kalfrin AWFJ.org The Mountain ... has the spirit of backyard adventures writ large. ...[T]he film is a touching ode to friendship and seemingly random yet meaningful moments. Sep 26, 2024 Full Review Sarah Gopaul Digital Journal Māori traditions are sprinkled throughout the narrative... Their adventure doesn’t bring any life-altering revelations, but does allow them to find friendship at a time in their lives when they’re all feeling very much alone. Sep 26, 2024 Full Review Jared Mobarak Hey, Have You Seen ...? It never talks down to them by sugar-coating what these kids are going through. It never falls prey to artificial sentiment either like so many adult stories with the same subject matter do as a result of our collective desire for avoidance. Rated: 7/10 Sep 12, 2024 Full Review Louisa Moore Screen Zealots A heartfelt and charming adventure that taps into the innocence and wonder of childhood. Captures the simple yet profound joys of being a kid, when every day felt like an adventure and friendships were built on shared quests and dreams. Sep 12, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Ru K Watched this with my 10 year old so this our review. This movie was hardcore, bringing theme like death, cancer and loneliness to life. But it was also a magnificent story of hope, light and friendship. It was beautifully shot and some absolutely loved the Mauri language and culture coming in. The cloud scenes were amazing and the humour around cancer were both heartbreaking and at times funny. Overall incredible movie.....original, creative and thought provoking. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/24/25 Full Review kiwi b Great movie would recommend. Also Reuben Is kinda hot. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/25 Full Review Read all reviews
