Critics Consensus

Lacking a transporting yuletide story or dazzling dance routines, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is a hollow holiday confection that's lovely to look at -- and easy to forget.

Disney's pretty-looking The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is immediately forgettable. The disparate elements of the story barely fit together. Go to Full Review

Younger audiences will enjoy the bright colours and fun energy but it's unlikely to leave a lasting impression. Sometimes, that's enough. But don't expect it to become an instant favourite. Go to Full Review

At times it has the feel of a computer game: cross the bridge, open the gates, jump off the wall, beat the boss. Only characters in computer games tend to be more unpredictable, with more than one twist. Go to Full Review

It has grand ambitions and a decent eye for visuals. But its presentation is soulless and unrefined, coming off less like a magical adventure of its own right, and more like the sugar free alternative to Narnia. Go to Full Review

Julia M @LookAtMeReviewingYou Dec 8 Painful. - The acting was laughable and... *turns away, turns back, face serious*... DRAMATIC! (Ugh) -The story riddled with holes, e.g tin men who have been given life by a machine, then dying because the person who moved the lever has turned to a toy. Uhuh. - Painfully predictable. - Character motivations misplaced and misfortunate. E.g one person told us another person is trying to take over. Is there proof? Should we ask the second person if it's true? Nope. BANISH THEM! Oh wait it was a lie. Good God. But the designs of the world and characters are very fantastically fantastical. And very impressive ballet. - Also that final Morgan Freeman quote supposedly from the dead mother: Her greatest creation... Was you! .. I mean she has another sister and a brother but gee thanks Mum. AVOID! See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 6 Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is a visually striking holiday fantasy that carries far more charm than it was ever given credit for. The imaginative world, filled with bold colors and beautifully crafted locations, brings a refreshing sense of seasonal wonder. While the lead performance can feel slightly uneven, the supporting cast adds enough personality to keep the film moving with warmth and creativity. The screenplay is imperfect, with a few scenes feeling either rushed or stretched, yet it still maintains emotional pull and engaging momentum. Some casting choices and character arcs could have used deeper development, but the atmosphere, music, and strong visual identity make it enjoyable. It may not redefine the classic tale, but it succeeds as a cozy and entertaining holiday film worth revisiting. See more vanessa C. @chansgift Dec 2 One of my ultimate comfort Christmas movies.
