Dr. Ed Betters (Joe Penny) is having a rough time. A former patient (Lisa Hartman) has a multi-million-dollar malpractice suit against him for a hysterectomy she's convinced wasn't necessary. At the same time, his wife, Ginny (Kathleen Quinlan), who is also a partner at his medical clinic, is filing for a divorce. Dr. Betters is getting attacked personally and professionally, although there's another side of the story that is still to be revealed.
