Left without transportation in a South American village during an ad campaign shoot, photographer Ben Morris (James Garner) and model Alison Duguesne (Eva Renzi) join forces with Sammy Ryderbeit (George Kennedy), who has a map showing the location of a mythical diamond mine. Accompanied by Dennis McCune (Nigel Green), who claims to have known the map's owner, the group is stranded again after he takes their equipment. The three struggle to catch up with McCune and find the treasure.
