Rated: 3/5 Nov 28, 2020 Full Review Adam Graham Detroit News If you can stomach it, "The Platform" is a funny and fierce farce with its eyes on race, class and the ways people can rise up for the betterment of all by working together. Rated: B+ Apr 4, 2020 Full Review Olly Richards Empire Magazine Gaztelu-Urrutia is making accusatory points about society, but he's not finger-wagging. The Platform delivers its moral message with the mechanics of a lean thriller. Terry S Pseudo intellectual nonsense, Im sorry I watched this. Trying to make the kind of social commentry you might hear in a university coffee shop from 21 year olds who think they are god's gift to humanity Acting was solid, premise was kind of interesting but execution was abysmal. The character motivations are paper thin, the plot is rambling, and there is "and then and then" story telling. Avoid like the plague Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/25 Full Review Ralph R "The Platform" is one of those movies that sticks with you long after the credits roll. It's not your typical horror flick, though it definitely has some gruesome moments. This isn't about jump scares, it's about a terrifying concept that's surprisingly relevant to our world. The directing is brilliant. They keep the tension high throughout, and the way they use the limited space of "the pit" is incredibly claustrophobic. The cinematography is equally impressive, with some truly unsettling visuals. The acting is solid across the board, with each character adding a unique layer to the story. The script is sharp and thought-provoking. It doesn't spoon-feed you the message, forcing you to grapple with the ethical dilemmas at the heart of this dystopian society. And let's not forget the score, which is both eerie and unsettling, perfectly complementing the film's atmosphere. "The Platform" is a disturbing and unforgettable cinematic experience. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/25 Full Review Nephryne V I was recommended to watch this movie, everyone said it was gory, it was interesting, descried it as the best thriller one of 2019. What I'm about to say is going to strongly differ from most reviews. I definitely felt robbed from the time I spent watching this movie. It did not intrigued me even a tiny bit. The plot was bland, the whole movie was taking forever without anything special at all happening and the ending was beyond dissapointing. I thought I've watched worse movies before, but that one will definitely will be in my top 10 worst movies ever watched. And don't get me wrong - I am a huge fan of all kinds of thrillers, horrors, dramas, psychedelic movies, etc., but that one just wasn't my cup of tea. It didn't leave me thinking about the moral of the story as most movies that I watch do, but gave me the bitter taste of the waste of time I'm never going to get back. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review Jeepers C This is a very entertaining movie. I seen a similar concept in the movie "Snow Piercer". The prisoners start at different levels or platforms. The lower the number of the platforms the more food there is. People should ration the food and think of the others below, but do they follow that advice. The answer is no and that is where and when the chaos begins. This was a blast to watch. The ending is up for your interpretation. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/24 Full Review Audience Member Very enjoyable movie, I highly recommend watching the undubbed version. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/23/24 Full Review Vera N Where do I start... I became so engaged with the story right away, thinking how incredibly clever it was. Once things got to a certain horrifying detail that would normally make me walk away from a film (I couldn't watch The Road all the way through), I persevered, because of the powerful metaphors about life, society, faith, friendships, sacrifice and so on... I found myself thinking about those metaphors for many days after. I can't wait to watch the second film but I'm also terrified to watch it knowing the deep impact of this story.
