It's a preposterous plot, with a damp-squib ending, and like an episode of Dallas, the dialogue gets phonier and phonier. "This is a bad place. Far worse than you can imagine." Ditto the film.

The critics are wrong. This is a good detective movie/film noir. I love the dialogue and slower pacing. Characters talk and react believably. If I hadn't read all those bad reviews I would have seen the movie much sooner. Good movie and worth your time.

At the beginning the movie seemed incredibly interesting and I was excited to see what would unfold only to be disappointed. The story was all over the place and you never really knew what was going on even at the end. The movie had a couple of moments where it was promising but then it was like if they forgot what they wrote as the movie progressed. The character development is horrendous and to tell you the truth I couldn't tell you a single thing about who anyone was for the most part because of how convoluted it was. For example the sheriff is portrayed as a wuss, then he's corrupt, and then he helps out the main character. It just doesn't make sense
