It's a dull historical action drama that is in desperate need of some gratuitous sex or violence to liven up its near two-hour running time. Go to Full Review

Fall of a Kingdom looks like any other historical drama. But without the punch and dedication desperately needed to meet the filmmaker's admirable ambition, the action and drama fall flat before the plot can properly get underway. Go to Full Review

You've seen many aspects of this Ukrainian battle epic handled better elsewhere, although like its characters, the film makes a valiant effort considering its limited resources. Go to Full Review

Hardly of David Lean quality, but if you're willing to accept a hokey medieval adventure of the sort Hollywood used to turn out in the fifties, it might provide a fairly agreeable time. Go to Full Review

An appealing handle on B-movie action and emotional content, while the performances find the vibe of the production with refreshing ease, supporting the effort with enjoyable thespian intensity. Go to Full Review

There's a different energy amongst those cast members who have grown up with the story and, given the local prestige of the film, there's impressive talent among their ranks. Go to Full Review

Ian D @IDeeDee Mar 3 Well, I've seen worse.. I'd read the Guardian review online (which contradicted itself while trying to be snarky/clever: nothing new there) so didn't expect much, but - excluding the liberties taken with physics, natural topography &, for all I know, regional history, certain obligatory movie/TV military tropes/silliness (fire arrows, the chaotic melees etc.) & a leaden, humourless, East European feel to the script - I've seen worse. The love interest (yawn) was predictable, the main "good" male characters dull ciphers. There was a degree of screaming at the screen here. I LIKED the Mongols (kit looked good,& they spoke something I took to be Mongolian). The female characters were more interesting than the men (tropes aside). And nobody shouted "Fire" to shoot arrows (or, if they did I never noticed). A LOT of people put in a lot of effort. Shame more wasn't done with the script. SKY billed it as a cross between Game of Thrones & Braveheart (is that a selling point..? Hmmm.) See more John S @JohnStevo Jan 24 Major disappointment. Action scenes were fine, writing not so good and felt nothing for the characters. I even hated one of the characters which I wasn't supposed to. See more 검의길 귀 @RT11258378 Jul 8 In world history, the army of the Great Mongol Empire, which was the strongest military force in world history, conquered the world and even invaded and subjugated Europe. The film The Rising Hawk is set in the Middle Ages, when the Mongol Empire boasting the world’s most powerful military invaded and conquered Eastern and Central Europe. The protagonists are the brave European warriors who resisted the invasion of the world’s strongest Mongol Empire to the very end. Although Europe fell into colonial subjugation under the Mongol Empire, the European warriors who fought desperately against the Mongol Empire invasion are recorded as some of the greatest warriors in all of world history.
