Yash Raj D Well Researched And I'm Absolute Form Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/27/24 Full Review Jacob B Um...okay. I suppose The Secret has a couple of good things going for it. It's briskly paced and I suppose some of what these people are saying does have some merit to it (even a broken clock is right twice a day and all that) but I can't say I'm buying this law of attraction crap The Secret is bringing up. Maybe it's because I'm not the target audience for this kind of thing (the target audience being people who read self-help books) but I found the whole thing to be manipulative and exploiting the gullibility of people. It's not my place to accuse these people of fabricating some of the real-life narratives they bring up such as the whole bit with the gay guy and if The Secret changed your life, more power to you. But me, I was mostly just sitting there with my eyebrow raised finding the whole thing to have an air of naïvete to it. The marketing campaign was amusing, though. Seriously, would this have become as prominent as it did were it not for how this documentary was advertised like it was the next Da Vinci Code? And it came out the same year as the movie, at the height of Dan Brown's popularity! I wonder if I'll also have a dim view of that corny-looking Netflix film...
